Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for June 28 to July 5: Sometime between June 26 and 28, a thief broke into a residence in the 1300 block of Marlene Road by prying a door open to gain access. A television set was stolen.

Sometime between June 26 and 28, a thief broke into a residence in the 1300 block of Marlene Road by prying a door open to gain access. A television set was stolen.

On June 28 in the 5700 block of Cowrie Street, a resident lost a sterling silver two-tone amber bracelet. The unusual bracelet is made of approximately eight to 10 alternating regular amber and butter amber stones. The butter amber is a creamy, white-ish stone.

A resident reported a fraud after she received an email advising that her on-line banking password had been changed. The resident contacted her bank to advise she had not made any such change, and then learned that a significant amount of money had been transferred out of her account after this unauthorized password change. The matter is under investigation by both the bank and the police.

On June 25, a thief gained access into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 500 block of Gower Point Road and stole a silver 8GB iPod touch, Model A1367, as well as a small amount of cash.

Overnight July 1, a thief gained entry into two unlocked vehicles parked in the 400 block of Aldersprings Road. A wallet and cigarettes were stolen from one vehicle; the wallet, which had been emptied by the owner earlier, was later found in the resident's yard. No other theft or damage reported.

A possible impaired driver was reported leaving an address in the 5500 block of Wharf Road. The witness followed the suspect vehicle for a short distance and was able to provide a vehicle and driver description, licence plate and direction of travel. A police officer located the vehicle and spoke with the driver, who admitted to having consumed alcohol a short time earlier. The driver failed a roadside alcohol-screening test. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and her vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Sometime between July 3 and 4, a thief broke into mailboxes on Reed Road near Henry Road by prying open the doors on several of the units. Nothing appears to have been stolen and the damage was reported to Canada Post.

A multiple-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 101 near Havies Road after a southbound vehicle failed to stop in time and rear-ended a vehicle that was one of many waiting behind a vehicle attempting a left-turn off the highway. The initial collision led to a chain-reaction of rear-enders involving a total of four vehicles. Three vehicles had to be towed and one driver was taken to hospital to be checked out. The driver of vehicle that started the collision chain was issued a violation ticket for following too closely.
