On March 9, a thief broke into a residence in the 5700 block of East Porpoise Bay Road by accessing an unlocked window. The thief stole two Playstations, one X-Box, almost 200 CDs of older rock and roll, and approximately 100 DVDs and video games, a gray and black 30 GB IPod Nano and a large stained glass butterfly.

The thief used a yellow duffle bag and a pillowcase from the residence to carry away the goods. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 09-1608.

A shoplifter was witnessed by staff at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way putting an item into a duffel bag, then left the premises after paying for a smaller priced item. The shoplifter was apprehended by staff and detained until a police officer was able to attend. Due to the suspect's age and lack of criminal history, the business agreed to refer this matter to the Restorative Justice program.

On March 10, vandals caused considerable damage to public washrooms located in the 5700 block of Dolphin Street. This type of mischief has been an on-going problem for some time now. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed to determine possible suspects.

A thief also stole a pair of Rayban sunglasses, an MP3 player and a large amount of loose change from a second unlocked vehicle parked in the 4500 block of Stalashen Drive. Police remind people not to keep valuables in their vehicles which would tempt any opportunistic thieves.

Two passers-by stopped to assist a single-vehicle accident on Highway 101 near Havies Road where the vehicle had gone into the northbound ditch. The driver and lone occupant was uninjured, but appeared to exhibit signs of impairment. The file is still under investigation.

On March 15, a shoplifter was caught by staff at a business in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. The shoplifter, who had been caught stealing from the same business before, was arrested by police for theft and banned from the property.

A witness reported a possibly impaired driver after he left a business in the 900 block of Venture Way. The witness provided a vehicle and driver description, a licence plate number and a direction of travel. A police officer located the suspect vehicle parked nearby and spoke to the driver. The driver showed signs of drug impairment and admitted to consuming both alcohol and drugs recently and there was drug paraphernalia in plain view inside the car. The officer seized the drug paraphernalia and the driver's licence, and issued him a 24-hour driving suspension. The vehicle was also towed.
