Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Nov. 1 to Nov. 7

A witness called in a report of a vehicle driving around the 500 block of Gower Point Road, where the occupants were lighting off fireworks and smashing bottles on the ground. The vehicle was located on Truman Road. The officer noticed a strong odour of alcohol coming from the driver, so the driver was given a roadside alcohol-screening test, resulting in a "fail" reading. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

One of the other passengers was issued a violation ticket for having open liquor in a vehicle, and fireworks were seized from the vehicle as well.

Early on Nov. 1, a resident in the 600 block of Oceanview Drive witnessed an unknown male inside an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. The suspect, a male youth with blonde hair, dressed all in black, ran away when he realized he'd been spotted. Nothing was damaged or stolen.

Between Oct. 27 and Nov 1, suspects gained entry into a building in the 4400 block of Highway 101 and damaged tools and property. The suspects also stole a small black and yellow halogen light. This address has had recurring problems with similar mischief and thefts in the last month.

Early on Nov. 2, a male suspect gained entry into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 5700 block of East Porpoise Bay Road. The suspect, described as a male approximately 5'8", thin to medium build, wearing a green or dark grey hoodie, fled before police arrived. Nothing appears to have been stolen or damaged.

Early on Nov. 2, a thief gained entry into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Trail Avenue and stole some change. The thief rifled through the glove box and first aid kit, but nothing else was stolen.

On the evening of Nov. 2, a thief stole a wallet from a patron of a business in the 5500 block of Shorncliffe Avenue. The wallet contained cash, assorted bank cards and identification, including a Social Insurance Card. RCMP advise leaving identification such as SIN cards, birth certificates and passports at home in a safe place rather than carrying them on their person needlessly.

Between Nov. 1 and 3, a thief broke into a vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Anchor Road by prying the side door lock and stole a men's gold ring with imitation ruby and four tiny diamonds, an immobilizer and glasses.

Late on Nov. 4, a witness reported a possible break-in in the 900 block of Gibsons Way after hearing glass smash, and seeing two females running away from the area. Police located the broken window and determined that nothing had been stolen from the building. Patrols for the suspects were negative.

On Nov. 7, a thief stole an employee's purse from a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101. The black leather purse contained assorted identification, bank cards, cash and medication.

Between Oct. 27 and Nov. 5, a vandal punched a gas tank of a vehicle parked in the 4300 block of Francis Peninsula Road, and ripped off the rear door in an attempt to get into the cab. No further damage was reported and nothing appears to have been stolen.
