Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Feb. 22 to March 1: On Feb. 22, a shoplifter was caught at a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 after she left the business with unpaid-for merchandise in a backpack.

On Feb. 22, a shoplifter was caught at a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 after she left the business with unpaid-for merchandise in a backpack. The suspect was uncooperative and resisted attempts by staff to remain on scene. After throwing the stolen items back at the staff, she fled on foot after being unable to start her vehicle. The business was satisfied with getting its property back and no charges are pending. ?

Sometime overnight on Feb. 23, a thief attempted a break and enter to a business in the 270 block of Gower Point Road. The thief tried to gain entry through a rear door by removing a shim and prying open the door. However, no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.

On Feb. 23, a large tool box fell off the back of a vehicle while travelling on Highway 101. A Good Samaritan who had been following the vehicle, but had been unable to obtain a licence plate turned in the tool box to the RCMP. The owner may claim the item by providing a detailed description of the tool box and contents and reference file 11-1157.

On Feb. 24, a shoplifter was caught at a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 after she set off the door alarms when she tried to leave the premises. The shoplifter had a number of stolen items that were recovered without incident. The shoplifter was arrested and the file is still under investigation.

A large metal sander was reported lost sometime on Feb. 24. The owner believes it might have fallen out of the back of his truck while travelling up School Road. The industrial size sander, which weighs about 40 to 50 pounds, is a Clark, model Super 7. Anyone with any information about this item is asked to contact police, reference file 11-1166.

Sometime between Feb. 21 and 25, a thief stole several pieces of jewelry from a residence in the 7600 block of Tuwanek Drive. The thief made off with an 18K gold bracelet that had three diamonds set between two rows of smaller diamonds, a gold necklace with a sapphire and diamond pendant and a gold necklace with a two-stone yellow and pink amber pendant.

Early on Feb. 26 a resident in the 740 block of Tricklebrook Way was disturbed by the sound of someone attempting to break in through a locked window of the house. The resident told the suspect to go away before going outside with a flashlight. The suspect fled through the back yard and jumped over the fence. The suspect is described as a male youth, approximately 15 to 16 yrs old, wearing black pants and a red jacket.

An attempted break and enter was reported in the 900 block of Sentinel Road after the homeowners came home to find the deadbolt on their front door damaged. It appears the suspect used an axe that had been stored on the property to smash at the lock repeatedly. It is believed the suspect may have been interrupted before entry was gained.

A women's bike was found in front of a residence in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street. The owner may claim with a detailed description, including make, model and if possible, serial number by calling RCMP and reference file 11-1245.
