Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for May 29 to June 5:
Sometime between May 19 and 21, a thief broke into a shed in the 7900 block of Cooper Road in Halfmoon Bay and stole a variety of tools, including a weed eater, a chainsaw, air compressor, nail gun and a pair of hearing protectors.
The file is still under investigation.
On May 30, between 1 and 3 p.m., unknown suspects started two small fires next to a business in the 5500 block of Inlet Avenue in Sechelt. Both fires were put out without incident and no property damage was reported.
On May 30, a witness reported two young males setting a small fire near the bushes under the power lines near Neptune Road in Sechelt. The boys advised they just wanted to have a small campfire after school.After alecture about the dangers of setting fires in the bush from both a firefighter and police officer, the boys were transported back to their parents.
Early on May 31, abinder was found burning between Trail Avenue and Cowrie Street in Sechelt. Thebinder was traced back to items that had been left outside a business in the 5500 block of Trail. No other damage was reported and the fire was put out without incident. A suspicious male in a black hoodie on a scooter was reported in the area around the time of the fire, but patrols were negative.
Between May 21 and 22, a thief stole a Stihl 20" chainsaw from the back of a truck that was parked up near Carlson Lake in Halfmoon Bay. The Stihl is a model MS260-20, and the serial number has been registered with the police.
On June 1, a possible impaired driver was reported leaving a business in the 900 block of Venture Way in Gibsons. The witness provided a vehicle and driver description and licence plate. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Henry Road near Russell Road where the driver, who admitted to consuming alcohol earlier, was given a roadside alcohol-screening test. The results were a "fail." The driverwasissued a 24-hour driving prohibition, anadministrative driving prohibition and charges for impaired driving are being recommended to Crown counsel.
Overnight on June 1, a thief stole a white eight-foot Zeppelin R.I.B. Zodiac with a two-horsepower Honda outboard motorfrom a secured location on a workboatlocated in Egmont. TheZeppelin has unique metal rods weldedonto it to allow it to besecured to other boats. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file12-3507.
Sometime between June 1 and 3, a thief broke into a residence in the 5600 block of Kwatamus Avenue in Sechelt. The thief gained access by smashing a window pane next to the back door, and stole an undisclosed amount of alcohol and a pink lap top computer.
On June 4, a two-vehicle accident was reported in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street after a parked car was damaged by another vehicle that pulled into a parking spot next to it. The driver of the offending vehicle turned out to have an expireddriver's licence, and was issued a violation ticket.
