Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for May 13 to May 20:

Sometime since September 2012 and May 9, 2013, a thief gained entry into a residence and an outbuilding on Nelson Island and stole a large number of household belongings as well as a generator, some solar panels and a dinghy boat. The investigation is on-going.

On May 13, a shoplifter was caught by staff in the parking lot of a business in the 4300 block of Highway 101 after leaving the premises with a large amount of unpaid merchandise. The suspect, who was cooperative, was arrested for theft under $5,000 and has been banned from the business.

On May 14, a Coast resident reported a possible computer scam after receiving an alarming message on his computer purportedly from his bank, advising of a fraudulent credit card charge related to accessing child pornography sites. The resident did not respond to the email, which requested his personal and banking information, but contacted his bank directly and confirmed that they do not send out such emails to clients.

Overnight on May 15, a thief gained entry into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 5400 block of Yew Road in Sechelt, and stole an assortment of hand-tools including a Makita multi-tool set in a fabric case and a Dewalt 20-volt impactor drill.

On May 15, police attended a motor vehicle collision on Highway 101 near Field Road in Wilson Creek, after the first vehicle making a right turn off the highway failed to negotiate the turn correctly and struck a second vehicle that was waiting to make a left turn onto the highway.

The first driver exchanged information with the second driver, and then left the scene before police arrived. Police located the first driver some time later and issued her violation tickets for drive without due care and failing to keep right of a solid line.

On May 17, police attended a single-vehicle collision in the 6600 block of Gale Avenue North in Sechelt, after a witness saw a vehicle suddenly veer left across the oncoming lane, over the curb and striking a large rock before coming to a rest. Police and paramedics attended and determined the lone driver and occupant was overtaken by a medical condition and lost consciousness while driving.

A medical driver's licence review has been requested.

On May 18, police witnessed a possible impaired driver leave a business in the 900 block of Venture Way in Gibsons. Police pulled the vehicle over on Payne Road and noted the driver exhibiting signs of intoxication. The driver failed two roadside alcohol-screening tests and was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On May 19, a witness reported a suspicious male using a dolly to transport an outboard motor in the area of Trail Avenue and Cowrie Street in Sechelt. The male, who is well known to police, was located nearby and the motor was seized pending further investigation. On May 21, the owner of the motor reported its theft from a business in the 5600 block of Cowrie Street. The file is still under investigation.

On May 19, police responded to a break and enter to a business in the 5600 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt. The suspect appears to have used a hammer to smash a door to gain access to a trailer and stole a large bag of empty bottles. The suspect was located a short while later with the stolen property. The suspect was arrested for theft. The file is still under investigation.

On May 20, police attended a two-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in the 3000 block of Day Road in Roberts Creek. A westbound vehicle was entering a corner when an eastbound motorcycle struck the front driver's side corner of the vehicle. The motorcyclist sustained injuries and was airlifted to hospital in Vancouver for treatment. The file has been referred to ICBC.
