Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for July 30 to Aug. 6:
On July 30, a two-vehicle collision occurred eastbound on Highway 101 at Bay Road in Sechelt,after the first vehicle stopped for the left-turning vehicle in front of it. The second vehicle failed to stop in time and rear-ended the first vehicle. Fortunately, no injuries were reported and both vehicles were driveable. The driver of the second vehicle was warned to leave more distance between vehicles in future and the matter has been referred to ICBC.
On July 31, two suspects were caught on surveillance stealing merchandise from a business in the 5500 block of Highway 101.One male passed a second male a knife to cut open the packaging on an item, and then the second male placed the item in his jacket pocket. The second male then proceeded to thecheckout, paidfor one item, butnot the item in his pocket. Police are attempting to identify the two suspects.
Sometime since mid-July, vandals sawed off the guard rails at the Hopkins Landing dock in Gibsons. It is believed the culprits are sawing the posts off the fall protection guards and dumping them into thewater.Anyone with any information about this mischief is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file 13-5224.
On Aug. 1, a number of personal items was found dumped at an address in the 5100 block of Davis Bay Road. The items included DVDs, CDs and small electronics accessories. Owners may claim with detailed description by calling RCMP and reference file 13-5231.
On Aug. 1, a Coast business owner reported being scammed after receiving a very large order via email which involved shipping merchandise to Australia and Poland. The order was paid for with two separate credit cards, which turned out to be stolen. The buyer also insisted the business prepay the shipping cost using a Phillippines shipping company specified by the buyer. The business owner agreed and sent a money order for the shipping costs to an address in Manila.

Sometime in July, a thief stole two large silver gray tents from Cosyan Place in Sechelt. The canopy tents are 13 feet by 20 feet.
Late on Aug. 2, police assisted with some motorists strandedthree km upDakota Ridge Road after high-centering their vehicle on a large rock. The motorists were unharmed and driven home by police.Due todarkness and safety reasons, the tow truck operator arranged to meet the owner by the stuck truck in the morning.
On the morning of Aug. 3, a driver drew the attention of police after the she flipped the middle finger to the on-duty officer.
The officer stopped the vehicle on Sechelt Inlet Road after noting the "N" driver had too many passengers in the vehicle. Whileissuing the drivera violation ticket for fail to display "N", drive contrary to restriction and fail to produce a driver's licence, police noted the odour of alcohol on the driver's breath. The driver was given and failed a roadside alcohol-screening test. The driver, who was on conditions not to consume alcohol from a previous police file, was arrested for breaching her conditions.The driver was also issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and hervehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Overnight on Aug. 3, a thief stole an outboard boat motor from a boat docked in the 6700 block of Bathgate Road. The stolen motor is a 6-horsepower 1996 Yamaha, grey with red lettering.
