Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 11 to 18:
Sometime between Sept. 8 and 9, a shoplifter was witnessed stealing a large amount of bulk candy from a business in the 1100 block of Highway 101. The business owner posted a description of the suspect on a popular social networking site and received a tip about the suspect's identity. Police located the suspect, who admitted to the theft. The suspect has been banned from the business.
Overnight on Sept. 12, a thief gained entry into several cars in the 5600 and 5700 blocks of Surf Circle and 5700 block of Anchor Road in Sechelt. In all cases, the vehicles were unlocked or a window was left open. The thief stole a wallet, assorted tools, music stand and some change. Police remind the public again to secure their vehicles and remove any valuables from inside.
On Sept. 13, police responded to a mischief report at the bus shelter near Cowrie Street and Trail Avenue in Sechelt. A witness reported a young white male with shoulder length black hair, wearing a grey and black checkered coat, used his long board to smash one of the glass sides of the shelter. A photo of the suspect was obtained and police are attempting to identify and locate him.
On Sept. 13, a herd of goats was reported loose on Reed Road in GIbsons. Police attended and located four small goats on the side of the road. After discussion with the complainant, the goats were herded into the back of the patrol car for safekeeping until the owner could be located. Police found the owner nearby, who took back custody of his goats and advised that an electric fence would be functional in the morning, thus hopefully preventing any further goats from escaping the property.
