Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 10 to 17:
On Sept. 12, a possible impaired driver was witnessed on Norwest Bay Road near Highway 101 in Sechelt.
Police located the vehicle and pulled it over a short period later. The driver admitted to having consumed alcohol half an hour earlier. The driver was issued a roadside alcohol-screening test that resulted in a 'warn reading.' The driver was issued a three-day immediate roadside prohibition and her vehicle was towed.
Between Sept. 10 and12, a thief cut through afence to gain access to a storage yard at a business in the 12800 blockof Highway101, and then cut a lock to gain access to a boat. Two Scottie down riggers,a variety of fishing rods and reels, a six-inch Makita angle grinder and a brass hammer were among the items stolen.
On Sept. 12, a possible impaired driver was caught in the 700 block of Gibsons Way afterpolice witnessed the driver back in to a ditch. The driver, whowas exhibiting signs of intoxication, advised he had last consumed alcohol an hour earlier. The driver was issued and failed a roadside alcohol-screening test and was handed a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
Overnight on Sept. 13, a thief gained entry into a locked vehicle witha rolled down windowparked in the 4800 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt and stole two portable DVD players and a credit card.
On Sept. 13, a hit-and-run accident occurredat a business in the 5600 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt, after a truck backed into the side of a building and fled the scene without stopping.
Witnesses were able to provide a gooddescription of the suspect as well as the licence plate number and police located the driver and damaged truck a shorttime later. The driver admitted he had been driving, but denied any knowledge of the collision.However, the truck exhibited damage consisted with the collision, so the driver was issued a violation ticket for fail to stopwhen in an accidentresulting in property damage.
On Sept. 15, a single-vehicle accident occurred in the 8300 block of Redrooffs Road in Halfmoon Bay, after a vehiclewent off-road while rounding a corner and ended up striking a large rock before coming to a rest.
When policearrived, no one was in the car, butthere was evidence the driver may have been drinking while driving. Police have spoken to the registered owner and are attempting to locate the driver.
Overnight on Sept. 15, a vandal knocked down several fence panels at a residence in the 500 block of Seaview Road in Gibsons. The vandal appears to have walked around the property and gained entry to a vehicle, but nothing was stolen.
On Sept. 16, a suspected impaired driver was stopped at a business in the 5600 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt. The driver, who was exhibiting clear signs of intoxication, was issued and failed a roadside-alcohol test. The driver was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
