On Aug. 30, a visitor to the Coast lost a large diamond ring in the 5700 block of Teredo Street in Sechelt. The woman's ring is 14 karat gold and features a one-carat diamond surrounded by 14 smaller diamonds in a gold oval frame. Anyone with any information about this item is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 12-6588.

Early on Sept. 18, a break and enter occurred at a residence in the 5400 block of of Wharf Road in Sechelt. The suspect appears to have gained entry by removing a screen from an unlocked window. The suspect, who stole some alcohol, was chased out of the residence by the homeowner.

A resident in the 1700 block of Ocean Beach Esplanade in Sechelt reported several occurrences of errant golf balls landing in her yard since the summer, as well as one occasion where a golf ball struck and broke a window.

At another time, visitors to the property were outside when a golf ball came flying through the air towards them. Fortunately, no one was injured. It appears that the golf balls are being hit from somewhere above Ocean Beach Esplanade, presumably toward the ocean. Anyone with any information about this hazardous activity is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 12-6605.

On Sept. 17, a break and enter occurred in the 13300 block of Deller Road in Garden Bay after the suspect(s) gained entry by breaking a rear window with a rock. The thieves stole a number of valuables including a computer, a cell phone, gold and gem stones.

On Sept. 19, a possible impaired driver was reported heading southbound on Dolphin Street towards Ocean Avenue in Sechelt. The driver was going 10 km under the speed limit and was veering all over the road. Police located the suspect vehicle and spoke with the driver who was not impaired. The driver advised she was not comfortable driving at night which was why she was going at a slow speed.

On Sept. 20, a Sunshine Coast business owner, who has no known enemies, received a threatening email from an unknown address stating that the sender had been paid a ransom to kill the email recipient. The suspicious email came from a rocketmail.com address. This type of email, which provided no concrete details other than the threat, is similar to scams that attempt to frighten recipients into paying money to "stop" whatever threat is made.

On Sept. 21, an officer witnessed a driver leave a business in the 5700 block of Teredo Street in Sechelt and drive towards West Sechelt in an erratic manner. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication, was issued a roadside alcohol-screening test. After two "fail" results, the male was issued a 90-day immediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded.

On Sept. 22, an officer driving northbound on Sechelt Inlet Road witnessed a vehicle that appeared to be speeding southbound. Radar confirmed the southbound vehicle was travelling more than 20 km over the posted speed limit. When the driver noticed the patrol car, the driver braked hard and skidded into the ditch, striking the embankment before coming to a rest. The lone occupant and "N" driver was able to exit the vehicle on his own, and apologized to the officer for speeding. The driver was issued a violation ticket and the vehicle was towed to the registered owner's home. The young driver was collected by a parent.

Overnight on Sept. 20, a thief stole a Current Designs 17 feet long kayak from an address in the 2700 block of Lower Road in Roberts Creek. The kayak is a Solstice GT model, and has a turquoise deck and white hull. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 12-6752.

On Sept. 21, a thief stole a blue Standard suitcase full of men's and women's clothing from a parking lot in the 16600 block Backeddy Road in Egmont while the owner left it for a few minutes to retrieve something from a vehicle. The suitcase also contained an iPad and charger.
