Sunshine Coast RCMP released the following for Jan. 26 to Feb. 7: On Jan. 26, a hit and run occurred in a parking lot in the 5700 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt.

Sunshine Coast RCMP released the following for Jan. 26 to Feb. 7:

On Jan. 26, a hit and run occurred in a parking lot in the 5700 block of Highway 101 in Sechelt. The suspect vehicle struck a parked car, causing damage to itself as well as to the parked vehicle's passenger side and rear. A witness saw a dark coloured, large GMC truck with duel rear wheels cause the damage, but no licence plate was obtained. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266, reference file 12-517.

A hit and run involving two vehicles occurred late on Jan. 31 in the 5500 block of Highway 101 after a southbound vehicle, travelling at a high rate of speed, lost control, spun out and struck a northbound vehicle. The first vehicle, which sustained major damage to its rear and left its rear licence plate behind, fled the scene without offering any assistance to the driver and passengers of the second vehicle. Fortunately, no major injuries were sustained. The suspect vehicle and driver were located a short time later. The intoxicated driver was arrested for driving while impaired. The file is still under investigation.

Between Feb. 1 and 2, a thief gained entry to an unlocked vehicle parked in the 600 block of Bals Lane in Gibsons and stole a paper notepad. The thief also checked the ashtray, but nothing else was stolen or damaged.

On Feb. 1 at approximately 8:15 p.m., RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision in the 900 block of Gower Point Road in Gibsons after area residents reported a crash. Prior to police attendance, it had been reported that another pickup had arrived and towed the offending vehicle from the ditch. When police arrived on sceneboth vehicles weregone. The canopy of the offending truck and an aluminum step bar were recovered at the scene. Witnesses reported the offending vehicle as a mid-nineties black pickup truck.

On Feb. 2, police attended to a disturbance at a business in the 800 block of Gibsons Way. Staff reported that a middle-aged male got upset after being told he had to sign the back of a lottery ticket before they could check it. The male slammed his hand on the counter and threw a packaged baked good at the staff member before fleeing the scene in a two-door grey vehicle. Unfortunately, no licence plate number was obtained.

A single-vehicle collision occurred in the 3100 block of Linwood Road after a vehicle lost control and went off road and hit a tree. Alcohol and drugs were not a factor. The vehicle sustained significant damage, but the driver only sustained minor injuries.

On Feb. 5, a thief stole a blue Pontiac Grand Am from the Ruby Lake area. The driver had hidden the keys in the vehicle. The vehicle was located soon after on Murdoch Road after it had been set on fire.

On Feb. 5, a thief stole a wallet and cell phone out of a purse while the owner was at the Gibsons Legion. The owner located most of her belongings on the side of the road near the Legion, but is still missing her driver's licence and LG Android cell phone.

On Feb. 6, a satchel containing a variety of personal belongings was turned in to the RCMP. The satchel had been found on Pratt Road. The owner may claim with detailed description of the satchel and its contents, reference file 12-702.
