Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Feb. 26 to March 4:
On Feb. 26, a witness reported an erratic driver after seeing a driver go through the four-way stop in Sechelt at Trail Avenue and Cowrie Street without stopping or slowing down, and driving on the wrong side of the road on Surf Circle.
Police spoke with the elderly driver and have requested a driver's licence review from the Superintendent of Motor Vehicles.
On Feb. 27, a report of an erratic driver came in from the 4700 block of Highway 101. Police located the vehicle in Davis Bay and upon speaking to the lone occupant and driver, determined drugs or alcohol were not factors. However, the elderly driver disclosed some medical issues, so a driver's licence review has been requested.
On Feb. 28, an erratic driver was reported on Highway 101 near Lower Road after a southbound vehicle suddenly stopped for no apparent reason, nearly causing a collision, and then continued to drive in an inconsistent manner until turning up Pratt Road. Police located the driver and after warning the driver of his behaviour, are requesting a driver's licence review.
Sometime between Feb. 26 and 28, a suspect attempted to break into a storage shed in the 5500 block of Wharf Road in Sechelt. The suspect left behind a bent piece of metal, which is believed to have been used in an attempt to pry the door, but no entry was gained and nothing was stolen.
Sometime between December 2012 and February 2013, a thief stole four, Prometer Traction tires and a spare from a vehicle that had been parked at a logging camp in Jervis Inlet. The suspect also gained entry into the vehicle cab through an unsecured window and stole a Motorola CB radio.
Two pieces of machinery were found in the 5600 block of Dolphin Street in Sechelt. The owner may claim with a detailed description, by contacting RCMP at 604-885-2266 and reference file 13-1206.
On March 1, police attended a single-vehicle collision on Redrooffs Road near Annex Road in Halfmoon Bay after residents in the area heard a loud bang.
The vehicle was located upside down and completely crushed in the middle of the road, but no occupants were found inside or nearby. Search and rescue was called out, but was cancelled when police located the registered owner at his home nearby. The male, who had sustained some minor injuries, was issued a violation ticket for failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
On March 3, residents in the 6600 block of Gale Ave North in Sechelt reported mischief after witnessing youths stealing surveyor's flags and jumping up and down in their truck bed. Police located the vehicle in Roberts Creek and recovered several of the flags.
The occupants of the vehicle, including a minor, were found in possession of open liquor and several violation tickets were issued. Also, the driver was found to be a prohibited driver candidate and was issued a 90-day driving prohibition.
The vehicle was towed and guardians were called to collect the youths.
Between March 3 and 4, a thief stole a variety of stools from a site in the 200 block of Shoal Lookout in Gibsons. The thief, who removed a board to gain access into the site, stole a Porter-Cable pancake compressor, a Bosche chopsaw and a Milwaukee portable stereo system.
