Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Jan. 4 to Jan. 9:
Police assisted BC Ambulance personnel at a call for a heavily intoxicated female youth at a house party in the 10000 block of Painter Road. The homeowners, who were not aware of the alcohol consumption and did not supply any alcohol, were advised they could be charged for permitting minors to drink and of the possible civil liabilities if any harm occurred as a result. Fortunately, the youth did not require hospitalization. Police remind the public to educate themselves about the liabilities they may face anytime they host a private gathering where alcohol is served.

When police arrived, they found several mailboxes had been pried open and some mail found in nearby puddles. The suspect vehicle was also still on scene, as was one female passenger and one of the male suspects, who was attempting to fix a flat tire. The second suspect fled on foot. Police seized a loaded shotgun that was in plain view inside the vehicle along with an assortment of other tools. The female was arrested for unauthorized possession of a firearm. The file is still under investigation.
A two-vehicle collision resulting in minor injuries and damage occurred in the intersection of Gibsons Way and School Road after a northbound vehicle making a left onto Gibsons Way was struck by a vehicle heading straight south onto School Road. The driver of the left-turning vehicle was not issued a violation ticket for failing to yield right of way as witnesses suggested that the southbound driver might have been travelling too quickly and run the light.

After a brief struggle, the suspect grabbed the employee's purse and a bag and fled towards the water. An officer located the suspect vehicle and driver a short time after and issued the driver a violation ticket for failing to stop for a school bus.
On Jan. 6, a shoplifter was caught stealing a wooden jewelry box from a business in the 5600 block of Highway 101. On the morning of Jan. 7, a thief stole a men's watch from an unlocked locker at the Sechelt Aquatic Centre. The stainless steel Seiko has a Ford emblem and an "M" on the faceplate. Police remind people to leave valuables at home or to lock their lockers at this public facility.
