Between 9:30 a.m and noon on March 29, a thief attempted to gain entry into a residence in the 7300 block of Redrooffs Road. The thief attempted to break the deadbolt lock on two doors, but was unsuccessful and did not gain entry. No other damage or theft were reported. ??

Between March 31 and April 4, a thief attempted to break and enter a residence in the 5300 block of Selma Park Road. The thief damaged a dead bolt lock and a rear doorknob but was unable to gain entry. Nothing was stolen and no other damage was reported. ??

On April 1, a thief stole a five-metre long Boston Whaler boat with a 50-horsepower Mercury outboard motor from a business in the 1000 block of Venture Way. A male purporting to be the owner stole the boat, which was to be picked up by the rightful owner on April 2. The male hooked up the boat to a new, lifted black Toyota Tundra with fancy black alloy wheels. Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact RCMP, reference file 2013-1940. ??

Between April 1 and 2, a thief gained entry into an unlocked residence in the 8500 block of Redrooffs Road and stole several pieces of jewelry and a large jar of coins. The stolen jewelry included a gold chain with a diamond and pearl pendant, a gold chain and locket engraved "I love you" and a separate piece inside engraved Vernon, a gold ring with large moonstone, a gold ring with a deep red amber stone, and two old wedding bands (one white gold, one gold). ??

On April 2, a thief broke into a residence in the 5300 block of Benner Road while one of the residents was still in the house. The thief damaged a screen window to gain entry through an unsecured basement window and stole a black trapezoidal jewelry box with a little flower on it from an upstairs bedroom. The box contained a matching silver necklace and earrings with crescent moons, pins from Norway and three brooches. The thief also stole some prescription medication. ??

On April 3 between 9 a.m. and 2:40 p.m. a thief broke into a residence in the 8000 block of Alderwood Road. The thief gained entry through a side door by using a tool to damage a deadbolt lock and proceeded to the bedrooms, from which the thief stole a jewelry box containing some costume jewelry, including silver hoop earrings. No other items were stolen or damaged. ??

Overnight on April 4, thieves broke into a business in the 5600 block of Wharf Road, using a large rock to smash a window. The thieves, both described as Caucasian males in their early 20s, were wearing hoodie sweaters and dark bottoms. The pair of suspects stole a small amount of alcohol, then returned to the scene hours later and stole a larger amount of alcohol. Police are reviewing surveillance footage.??

On April 6, a witness reported a male staggering into his vehicle and driving off westbound on the Sunshine Coast Highway near Mason Road. Police located the vehicle near Trout Lake Road and witnessed the vehicle crossing the shoulder line several times and driving below the speed limit. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver was found to be exhibiting signs of intoxication. The driver was given two roadside alcohol screening tests, both of which resulted in a "fail." The driver, who admitted to consuming alcohol shortly before getting into his vehicle, was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. ??

Overnight on April 7, a thief attempted to break into a business in the 1100 block of the Sunshine Coast Highway. The thief tried to pry open a rear door, damaging the door in the process, but was unable to gain entry. Nothing was stolen. ??

On the morning of April 7, a thief entered an unlocked residence in the 1400 block of Russell Road and stole an Everex laptop computer and charger (in a brown laptop bag), a small metal cash box and a Cuttle Bug printer used for crafting. ??

On April 7, a Coast resident reported an attempted fraud after hackers locked her computer with a message claiming to be from the RCMP. The false message says RCMP (or police) have locked the computer due to illegal activity and if the owner wishes to unlock it, they are advised to call a number to pay a fee. This is a scam. If you should get a similar type of message, it is recommended you take your computer to a trusted professional for servicing. ??

On April 7, a witness reported a possible impaired driver tailgating and driving erratically in the 900 block of Gibsons Way. Police located the suspect driver who was exhibiting signs of intoxication. The driver, who had an open bottle of alcohol in the front cab of the vehicle, failed two roadside alcohol-screening tests and was issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. ??

Late on April 7, a thief broke into a business in the 5600 block of Wharf Road after using a large rock to smash a window. The thief did not gain entry but managed to reach in and steal a laptop computer.
