Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for March 19 to 26: Police have received several complainants of gas theft from the Kwatamus Avenue and Xenichen Avenue. The thief is siphoning gas from vehicles during the night. Between Feb.

Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for March 19 to 26:

Police have received several complainants of gas theft from the Kwatamus Avenue and Xenichen Avenue. The thief is siphoning gas from vehicles during the night.

Between Feb. 16 and March 18, a thief stole a large amount of gas and heating oil from a residence in the 13100 block of Sexwamin Street. The fuel was siphoned out of a storage tank.

On March 20, a two-vehicle accident occurred southbound on Highway 101 near Conrad Road after the first vehicle pulled over partiallyto the rightside of the road and signalled before making a left turn to go back towards Roberts Creek.

The driver of the second vehicle following, assuming the first vehicle had pulled over to allow him to pass, continued on and struck the front driver's side of the first vehicle as it attempted its left turn. The first vehicle rotated and slid into a hydro pole. Both the driver and passenger of the second vehicle were taken to St. Mary's Hospital for a routine check. The driver of the second vehicle was issued a violation ticket for illegal pass on a laned roadway.

On March 20, police witnessed an erratic driver northbound on Highway 101 near Maskell Road in Roberts Creek after the vehicle was noted to be travelling well below the posted speed limit and it swerved over the fog line and back several times.

Police stopped the vehicle and noted the driver exhibited signs of impairment. The driver was give a roadside alcohol-screening test as well as a standard field Sobriety test to determine if he was impaired by alcohol or drugs. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and his vehicle was impounded. The file is still under investigation.

Overnight on March 21, a vandal smashed a window and side mirror on a vehicle parked in the 700 block of School Road in Gibsons. Nothing was stolen and there is no sign the vandal attempted to steal the vehicle.

On March 21, police witnessed an erratic driver making an unsafe left turnat a busy intersection of Highway 101 at Burton Road in Gibsons. The suspectdriver also failed to make a complete stop at a stop sign, neglected to check both ways for traffic and sped up while failing to yield to oncoming vehicles. The driver also lost control of his vehicle momentarily, causing the following police car to brake hard to avoid a collision. The driver, who was not intoxicated, was issued a violation ticket for drive without consideration.

On March 21, police witnessed a vehicle stopped at an intersection on Highway 101 near Seamount Way in Gibsons that sat through two full light changes before turning right. When police initiated a traffic stop, the driver attempt to leave his vehicle, but was detained. The driver, who exhibited signs of intoxication, was given a roadside alcohol screening test, resultingin a fail reading. The driver was issued a90-dayimmediate roadside prohibition and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

Between Feb. 21 and March 23, a thief broke into a residence in the 200 block of 7th Street in Gibsons and stole an assortment of jewelry including two pairs of gold earrings, three gold rings, a diamond ring and two small bars of gold. The thief appears to have gained entry through an unlocked sliding door.

Between March 22 and 24, a thief broke into a residence in the 6000 block of Gale Avenue south in Sechelt and stole some jewelry, including six rings and earrings. The thief forced a lock on a rear door to gain entry.

On March 24, police witnessed an erratic driver southbound on Highway 101 swerve back and forth from the shoulderand across the centre line. At one point, a northbound vehicle had to swerve to avoid a collision with the suspect vehicle. Police pulled the vehicle and noted the driver exhibiting signs of impairment. The driverperformed poorly on a standard field sobriety testand was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. The file is still under investigation.
