Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for March 26 to 28:
Sometime overnight on March 26, a thief gained entry into an unlocked vehicle parked in the 800 block of O'Shea Road in Gibsons and stole a sleeping bag, one blue backpack and one green backpack containing a large variety of camping equipment including binoculars, Book of Wild Edibles, Book of Survival, and a Bear Grylls survival knife/kit.
On March 26, police came upon a vehicle stopped near Fairway Avenue and Ripple Way in Sechelt with one of its turn signals on. The lone driver and occupant was found sitting inside and appeared to be intoxicated. The driver was given a standard field sobriety test and was found to be impaired by drugs. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. The file is still under investigation.
Sometime between December 2010 and April 2011, a thief stole an eight-foot long Walker Bay runabout boat from the 400 block of Marine Drive in Gibsons. The owner only reported it recently due to finding the details for the boat, such as serial number.
On March 26, a thief broke into a residence in the 5400 block of Wakefield Road in Sechelt. The thief broke a lock on a rear door to gain entry and stole a jewelry box from a bedroom.The file is still under investigation.
On March 26, police attended to a possible impaired driver parked in the area of Cochrane Road and Harmony Lane in Gibsons. Police located the vehicle and noted the driver (and passenger) appeared impaired by drugs; this was confirmed after the driver underwent a standard field sobriety test. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and his vehicle was towed. The file is still under investigation.
