Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for May 1 to 8:
On May 1, a witness reported an erratic driver weaving all over the road southbound on Gibsons Way, as well as tailgating other vehicles. The witness provided a licence plate and vehicle and driver description and a member located and conducted a traffic stop with the suspect vehicle a short time later.
The driver was not impaired, but had an Apple iPad on the front passenger seat. The driver was warned about distracted driving.
On May 1, a blue bag containing a variety of clothing and other items was found in the 5500 block of Highway 101. The owner may claim at the Sechelt detachment with detailed description of contents, reference file 12-2656.
On May 3, a suspected impaired driver was caught after an officer witnessed a vehicle driven erratically southbound on Gibsons Way. The officer conducted a traffic stop and when the driver got out of the vehicle, the officer noticed signs of intoxication. The driver, who admitted to having consumed alcohol hours earlier, was given and failed a roadside alcohol-screening test. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and an administrative driving prohibition.
The file is still under investigation.
On May 3, a two-vehicle collision occurred at the intersection of Cowrie Street and Inlet Avenue after a vehicle heading northbound on Cowrie, struck another vehicle that was in the intersection on the driver side rear tire, breaking the wheel.
The vehicle had to be towed, but no injuries were reported. The driver of northbound vehicle was issued a violation ticket for failing to yield after a stop.
On the afternoon of May 3, surveillance cameras caught two male suspects breaking into a residence on Nelson Island. The suspects were travelling in a 16-foot Zodiac that had a four-foot mast flying a black flag.
One suspect is described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, wearing a red rain suit, yellow gloves and black hoodie. The second suspect is a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, wearing a white jacket, red pants, black hat and white running shoes.
The suspects kicked in doors to two buildings on site and stole a red chainsaw, two socket kits and a Maddox pickaxe.

On May 4, RCMP attended a three-vehicle collision on Highway 101 at Havies Road after a vehicle failed to observe traffic was stopped and rear-ended a stopped vehicle that then rear-ended a third vehicle.
Both stopped vehicles had to be towed due to damage and the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital for treatment of head and neck injuries. The driver of the offending vehicle was issued a violation ticket for drive without due care and attention.
On May 5, an officer was travelling north on Port Mellon Highway when she observed an on-coming vehicle travelling at excessive speed. The officer used her radar unit and confirmed the vehicle was travelling over 100 km/hr in a 60 km zone.
The vehicle was stopped and the driver was issued a violation ticket for excessive speeding and the vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.
On May 6, RCMP attended to a possible break and enter in progress in the 8100 block of Belair Road in Halfmoon Bay after a resident reported hearing crashing noises outside.
RCMP arrived and found two raccoons fighting over garbage that had been left on the deck. No other suspicious incidents were reported.
RCMP is looking for the public's assistance regarding a lost duffle bag in the area of the Blackfish Pub on Venture Way. The black leather duffle bag was misplaced on March 11 at approximately 10:30 p.m. while the owner was waiting for a ride on the front porch of the pub. The bag, which was described as in rough shape, contained clothing, toiletry items, a wallet which contained money, bank cards, ID and photos of the owner's children. If found, the owner would like the duffle bag returned as the bag has sentimental value. If you have any information regarding this or any other incidents please contact Const.
