A Gibsons man charged with second-degree murder is expected to make his plea at Sechelt Provincial Court on April 7.

Kevin Christopher Webster, 31, has made five appearances in court since last December.

On March 18, after Coast Reporter’s print deadline, defence and Crown counsel were expected to fix a date with a judicial case manager for a pre-trial conference. The disclosure of information related to the investigation and charges was expected this week.

Webster has been scheduled to appear in court April 7 for an arraignment, when he is expected to enter a plea.

On Dec. 27, RCMP officers discovered the body of Webster’s mother, Moirin Gladys Webster, in her home on Sargent Road with injuries “consistent with homicide,” according to an Integrated Homicide Investigation Team statement. Kevin Webster was arrested at the scene.

Moirin Webster was well known in the Gibsons churchgoing community. She had been a congregant with Christ the King Church where she had taught Sunday school, ran children’s programming and attended women’s groups and prayer groups.
