Sunshine Coast RCMP reported the following for Sept. 22 to 29: Sometime in the last month, a thief entered a residence in the 2300 block of Grant Road and stole gold cufflinks, a digital camera, a video camera, and three microphones.

Sometime in the last month, a thief entered a residence in the 2300 block of Grant Road and stole gold cufflinks, a digital camera, a video camera, and three microphones.

A shoplifter was caught by staff at a business in the 5500 block of Sunshine Coast Highway. The shoplifter was witnessed taking several items and putting them into a bag before walking out of the store. The shoplifter has now been banned from entering the business again.

Sometime overnight Sept. 23/24, a vandal broke a window and keyed the side of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Gower Point Road.

A traffic member noticed a driver having difficulty getting his vehicle into the flow of traffic on Highway 101 near North Road. The member checked the driver, and observed open alcohol in the vehicle. The driver also admitted to consuming alcohol earlier in the evening. The driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded.

An unlocked vehicle in the 5700 block of Ebbtide Street has been rifled through twice since Sept. 6 including overnight Sept. 25, but in both cases, nothing was stolen. However, a thief stole a fair amount of change from an unlocked vehicle parked in the 5700 block of Surf Circle, also overnight Sept. 25. Vehicle owners in the area are advised to remove any valuables and to lock their vehicles to discourage any opportunistic thieves.

Police attended to a possible in-progress break and enter after a caller reported suspicious sounds coming from an address in the 7400 block of Sechelt Inlet Road. On scene, members located a large dog going through garbage left on site, and were able to locate the owner, who advised he would keep the dog confined.

In the early hours of Sept 28, a thief threw a rock through a window to break into a business in the 5500 block of Inlet Avenue. A number of collectable coins, including sterling silver proof coins, were stolen. The file is under investigation.

A driver heading south in the 3900 block of Highway 101 was startled when his vehicle collided with some kind of animal that darted out too quickly into the road for him to avoid. The driver stopped to inspect his vehicle damage and to see if he could find the animal, which turned out to be a cougar. The cougar was severely injured, and was later located by a member in a nearby ditch where it was destroyed. The driver was taken to hospital for a check-up and the vehicle was towed for evaluation.

Sometime overnight on Sept. 28, a thief stole a 30 pound painted concrete eagle statue from an address in the 13200 block of Sexw'amin St. Anyone with any info is asked to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 with reference to file 09-7207.
