Waste schedule changes for Roberts Creek and Elphinstone

Waste Management notified SCRD of immediate service change

Curbside waste pickup will change for residents of lower Roberts Creek and lower Elphinstone, effective immediately.

Waste Management, the contracted waste disposal service provider for the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD), notified the regional district about the change “to improve long-term service delivery” in late December.

Residents in those areas who previously received pickup service on Thursdays will now have their green bins and garbage collections on Fridays. An updated collection map can be found on the SCRD Collect App or at www.scrd.ca/curbside-schedule. An attachment to a Dec. 22 press release from the SCRD shows 17 pages of addresses that are affected by the new schedule.

“Due to the lack of notice provided by Waste Management with regard to this change, the SCRD is working to get as much information to the community as possible before this change takes effect,” the release said. “We are asking you share this information with neighbours to ensure they are aware of these changes being put in place by Waste Management.”

Waste Management also recently announced the company is subcontracting curbside collection in the SCRD to Salish Soils.
