Two serious crashes on 101 in as many days

Emergency crews were called out Friday afternoon for the second crash on Highway 101 in Roberts Creek in as many days.

The crash happened around 1:40 p.m. Feb. 1, near 101 and Largo Road. Traffic had to be rerouted temporarily along Lower Road while the air ambulance was brought in to medevac an injured man in his 80s. The driver of the vehicle, a woman also in her 80s, was taken to Sechelt Hospital.

The highway was reopened just before 3:00 p.m.

On Jan. 31, a 77-year-old Langdale man was airlifted to hospital in Vancouver after a single vehicle crash on 101 near Gladwin Trail.

Sunshine Coast RCMP said there have been four collisions on Highway 101 in the Roberts Creek area this week. Impaired driving is suspected in the incidents on Monday and Tuesday.
