Three people were taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment of various injuries after a head-on collision between an empty school bus and a pick-up truck near Ruby Lake late Thursday afternoon.

Just after 4 p.m. on Oct. 17, Sunshine Coast RCMP, the Egmont fire department and paramedics responded to a report of a head-on collision between a school bus and pick-up truck on Highway 101, near Ruby Lake.

"RCMP learned that the bus was free of passengers; however there were no indications of the status of injured parties," said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. "Upon arriving, police learned that the bus was travelling southbound, turned a blind corner and collided head-on with a northbound pick-up truck, that was in her lane and unavoidable. The school bus driver, the driver of the pick-up and his passenger were all taken to St. Mary's Hospital with undisclosed injuries."

Traffic was limited to one lane and flaggers were called to assist with traffic due to the delays in obtaining a tow for the bus.

The driver of the pick-up was issued a violation ticket for failing to keep right.
