The George Hotel and Residences is proposed for 377-409 Gower Point Road.

The Town of Gibsons received 36 development applications in the third quarter (July to September) of 2022. This is up from 15 in the same period last year and 11 in 2020, however the majority are temporary use permit applications under the new residential guest accommodation (more commonly known as short-term rental) bylaw, according to a planning department report to a Nov. 15 committee of the whole.

However, some notable new applications over the three months include an application for a 81-unit rental apartment building at 835 Gibsons Way requesting a 12-metre increase in allowable height that has yet to come before council and a six-storey, 86-apartment building at 826 Gibsons Way. Also submitted was a form and character development permit application with design changes to the George (whose design permit expired over the summer), including a one-storey height reduction and parking, which is under review.

Nineteen building permits were issued in the quarter – six of those for new family dwellings.

Ten stop work orders were issued in the third quarter.
