A zoom into the Sunshine Coast area shows our area at a lower drought risk than areas in the lower mainland as of May 9.

As of May 9, the Sunshine Coast remains at classification level 1 on the province’s drought information portal mapping. Our area is one of 10 of the province’s 29 water basin areas at that level, with Vancouver Island areas also at that rating. Neighbouring jurisdictions including the Lower Mainland and Squamish have been moved to Level 2.

Weatherhood’s outlook for this week shows dry and warm weather conditions for our area. The continuation of those raises the chances of a drought level rating up tick for the Coast in the coming weeks.
