Sunshine Coast Tourism appoints board of directors

Members include representatives from qathet and Sunshine Coast regional districts

Sunshine Coast Tourism (SCT) has appointed its board of directors for 2023/2024. Following SCT's annual general meeting at Gibsons & Area Community Centre on December 7, the following members were announced:

Christine Hollman, Terracentric Coastal Adventures – president and member at large, north; Gary Bearchell, Cabins on the Coast – vice-president and small accommodations and campgrounds; Heather Newman, Pointhouse Suites on Sargeant Bay – treasurer and large accommodations, south; Theressa Logan, Sunshine Coast Air – secretary and recreation; J.L. (Jack) Barr, Powell River Town Centre Hotel / Beach Gardens Resort & Marina – past-president and large accommodations, north; John Hermsen, Footprint Kayak & Hike Explorations – member at large, north; Shangxuan Ma, Gibsons Garden Hotel – large accommodations, south; Jamie Mani, Alpha Adventures – member at large, south; Gina Ray, Tapworks Brewing Company – member at large, south; Chris Tait, Klahoose Coastal Adventures – large accommodations, north; Linda Williams, Coast Cultural Alliance – arts, culture and heritage.

Together with her team, Sunshine Coast Tourism executive director Annie Wise showcased instances of the organization's recent successes to an audience of more than 80 people. She underscored the value of a robust tourism economy and the competitive advantage gained through collaboration with SCT partners and stakeholders.

"Collaborating toward a shared goal provides us with a competitive advantage for both sustainable growth and resilience in our destination," stated Wise. "I really appreciate the unwavering commitment of our volunteer board members for their ongoing dedication to our collective success as a region."

All tourism-related businesses and organizations within qathet (Powell River) and Sunshine Coast regional districts can register with Sunshine Coast Tourism free of charge. Registered partners can access the stakeholder portal, which provides the ability to opt-in to various SCT programs, and the opportunity to learn more about and participate in the organization’s activities.
