It was a nasty Valentine's Day for one Sunshine Coast senior: someone stole a motorized scooter, leaving a senior woman "unable to get around and suffering the loss of her independence," said an RCMP press release.

The dark blue Pegasus brand scooter was stolen on Medusa Street, Sechelt, between midnight and 7 a.m. on Feb.14. The thief or thieves cut through fencing to reach where the scooter was stored.

The scooter may have a blue and white checkered blanket in the front basket and a shower cap covering electronics.

Anyone who may know where the scooter is or who has video surveillance that may have captured the incident is asked to call the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266.
