SideStix creates better bicycle grip

FinGrips

SideStix, the Sunshine Coast company that created some of the world’s most comfortable forearm crutches, is now making biking better with the introduction of FinGrips.

FinGrips are special handlebar grips that are specifically designed to keep hands and wrists in good ergonomic position, while absorbing shocks through a patented fin design.

“When you put your weight on the grip it actually flexes a little bit, like a diving board,” said Kerith Perreur-Lloyd of SideStix.

“That process helps eliminate much of the vibration and shock that usually goes right into your hand and up your arms.”

The FinGrips have a soft yet durable outer layer that’s “quite grippy but not sticky,” which took a long time to get just right, according to Perreur-Lloyd.

He said the new bike grips took about five years to come to fruition. Now SideStix is ready to release FinGrips to the marketplace.

The grips are currently being sold online at fingrips.sidestix.com for $45 a pair and SideStix hopes to also have them available in stores soon.
