Sunshine Coast RCMP is investigating several recent frauds, where the suspect(s) is impersonating Chief Garry Feschuk of the Sechelt Indian Band in order to solicit funds from business managers and owners.
"The suspect claims that a local community member is in trouble and needs money, and requests funds to be wired or sent to a pre-determined Vancouver location," said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a media release.
RCMP has investigated several other incidents of people impersonating Feschuk over the past few years.
RCMP requests that anyone who receives a call of this nature to immediately contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
