A 24-year-old Burnaby man is in police custody following an altercation at a home near the Sechelt Golf and Country Club Monday evening.
On April 1 at approximately 4:30 p.m. Sunshine Coast RCMP were dispatched to a possible shots fired complaint at the 6000 block of Ripple Way, near the Sechelt Golf and Country Club.
Witnesses called police after they reported seeing a man running across the golf course following what they believed to be a gun shot, said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a media release issued Tuesday morning. Police located and arrested the suspect and spoke to a homeowner. The investigation revealed that the incident allegedly occurred after the homeowner arrived at his residence, and interrupted a break and enter in progress. An altercation allegedly ensued between the suspects and homeowner and at least one gunshot was fired. Nobody was injured during the altercation.
Chubey said the investigation into this matter is on-going.
All of those involved in the incident are known to police, added Chubey. Police believe that this was a targeted incident and may be drug related.
Police also believe that there may be two more suspects involved and are asking anyone with information to contact the Sunshine Coast RCMP at 604-885-2266 or BC Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
