'Serious' crash closes Highway 101 in Roberts Creek

The highway is closed in both directions between Flume Road and Roberts Creek with a detour available through Lower Road or Lockyer Road. Drive BC says there's a detour via Beach Avenue using Marlene Road and Robert Creeks Road.

Update: Feb. 12, 12:00 p.m.,

B.C. Emergency Health Services confirmed they received a callout at 3:15 p.m. on February 8 regarding a motor vehicle at the 1300 block of Marlene Road in Roberts Creek.

 "Four ground ambulances with primary care paramedics and one air ambulance helicopter with critical care paramedics responded to the scene. Paramedics provided emergency medical treatment to three patients. Two were transported to hospital by ground ambulance and one was transported by air,” said Paramedic Public Information Officer Brian Twaites.

The investigation is still ongoing and RCMP are unable to speak to the condition of those injured in the collision. They did however confirm that the road was closed for 12 hours on Feb. 8.

A head-on collision in Roberts Creek between two vehicles Saturday afternoon has sent three people to hospital with serious injuries and caused a multi-hour highway closure. 

Sunshine Coast RCMP received several reports of an erratic driver in Roberts Creek at around 3 p.m. Saturday and shortly after received a report of a head-on collision, said a press release.

The highway is closed in both directions between Flume Road and Roberts Creek with a detour available through Lower Road or Lockyer Road. Drive BC says there's a detour via Beach Avenue using Marlene Road and Robert Creeks Road. 

The RCMP and the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) are investigating. 

Anyone who witnessed the collision or the erratic driver and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call RCMP.
