Sechelt resident Kylee Hunter is a million dollars richer after winning the top prize from a Big 10 Scratch & Win ticket.
Hunter bought the ticket at Your Independent Grocer in Tsain-Ko Centre following a trip to the laundromat, according to a B.C. Lottery Corporation (BCLC) media release.
“I buy the tickets as a treat for myself, it’s exciting and fun,” Hunter said in the release. “I had gone out earlier to do laundry and stopped at the Independent store… I picked up two tickets. After dinner while I was relaxing, I decided to scratch my tickets. I was shocked.”
The release said Hunter was “beyond belief” after the win, while her son and her best friend “were dumbfounded.”
BCLC says the odds of winning the $1-million top prize in the Big 10 Scratch & Win game are one in 1.46 million.
Hunter plans to celebrate the win with her family and friends, and use her winnings towards a new home.
