Search is on for missing woman

Police and search and rescue volunteers were searching woods, trails, parks and beaches throughout West Sechelt on Thursday morning, March 10, looking for a woman who went missing the night before. The RCMP used a police dog and a helicopter to assist in the search.

Sunshine Coast RCMP Cpl. Larry Burden said 39-year-old Lindsay Hatloe apparently left her West Sechelt home on foot. She left a note for her family saying she was going for a walk in the woods.

"The problem is, we don't know where she went," said Burden. "There's a lot of woods around here. We're searching all her favourite hiking trails and all the woods in the region."

The search began at about 4 a.m. As Coast Reporter went to press on Thursday, Hatloe had not yet been found.

Burden said there was nothing to suggest foul play.

"She's depressed," he said. "We're concerned for her personal safety."

Hatloe is five feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build and shoulder-length brown hair. She was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt and blue jeans.

Her family asks that anyone who knows her whereabouts call the Sunshine Coast RCMP.
