School District No. 46 (SD46) is hoping the community will rally together for its environmental education forum early next month.

"School District No. 46 teachers, parents and community members are coming together to share ideas and promote environmental education in our schools and communities," said superintendent Patrick Bocking.

The environmental and outdoor education community forum will take place on June 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chatelech Secondary School foyer.

The environmental committee members (comprised of teachers Jenny Groves and Jamie Mani, vice-principal Richard Biel, principal Barry Krangle and Bocking) have been discussing environmental education on the Sunshine Coast.

The committee is inviting all environmental and outdoor enthusiasts, educators and parents to share their knowledge, resources and visions to enrich environmental and outdoor education throughout SD46.

"The big picture is to provide more support for the many teachers who are already integrating environmental themes and issues across the curricula, and to create new learning opportunities for all students to promote environmental understanding," added Bocking.

The forum promises to be an exciting event with music, presentations, round table talks and opportunities for community members to link together to promote local environmental educational initiatives.
