After the provincial government announced more restrictions on public gatherings on Dec. 21, the Sunshine Coast Regional District (SCRD) is adjusting its recreational offerings yet again.

On Dec. 22, the SCRD issued a press release to help inform its facility users for the Sechelt Aquatic Centre, Pender Harbour Aquatic and Fitness Centre and the Gibsons and Area Community Centre about what has changed under the new public health order. From Dec. 23 to Jan. 18, all scheduled fitness classes and indoor facility bookings are cancelled, and registered people will receive refunds. The weight rooms at the three facilities and the courts at the Gibsons location will be closed.

Spectator capacity for sports has been reduced to 50 per cent, and proof of vaccination is required for attendees. In the new year, QR code scanners for vaccine passports will be used at SCRD facilities.

Some offerings are still continuing. These include programs for children and youth, recreational education and classes, sports - but not tournaments - and public swims, aquafit, public skates and drop-in arena sports. Proof of vaccination is now required for swimming pool users.
