Sailings cancelled due to mechanical problems

B.C. Ferries has announced some sailing cancellations for the remainder of the day on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route due to mechanical problems with the Queen of Surrey.

B.C. Ferries has announced some sailing cancellations for the remainder of the day on the Horseshoe Bay-Langdale route due to mechanical problems with the Queen of Surrey.

The Queen of Surrey is experiencing mechanical difficulties and is being pulled from service to facilitate repairs to one of the ship's main engines.

In a media release issued by B.C. Ferries just before noon Thursday afternoon, the company said it is redeploying the Queen of Cowichan, one of two vessels serving the Horseshoe Bay-Departure Bay route, to provide service on the Langdale run this afternoon.

As a result of the mechanical issues, the 12:20, 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. Langdale to Horseshoe Bay sailings will be cancelled as well as the 1:20 and 3:30 p.m. Horseshoe Bay to Langdale sailings.

All other sailings on these two routes will remain as scheduled. For full schedule details, visit www.bcferries.com.

B.C. Ferries media spokesperson Deborah Marshall said they anticipate the repairs will be done today and the regular schedule will resume Friday morning.
