Just in time for beach season, Gibsons’ Pebbles Beach, which closed in 2020 because of concerns of an unstable slope, is officially open with a safe access.
Under bluebird skies April 23, Mayor Silas White cut the ribbon to the new stairway, which saw some twists and turns in coming to fruition. (The stairway itself is straight.)
He was flanked on the left by Kendrick Carnes of contractor Urban Systems; Trevor Rutley, Gibsons’ director of infrastructure and Darren Bergnach of NB Contracting, and on the right by Lizette Fisher and Klyne Preston of Gibsons’ parks department.
“This is a truly treasured park for the residents of Gibsons, and it’s been a long time coming,” said White. “It’s taken a lot of hard work to get here, and I’m so grateful for the creativity and expertise shown by the contractors and town staff for making it happen. This park will be a great benefit to our community for many years to come.”
