The Community Resource Centre in Sechelt is offering a new social and educational series that will become a resource lending library for groups and individuals to use after the initial presentation.
The focus for the first series is remarkable women - women who have made a difference and who help us understand ourselves and our place in the world. An open invitation is extended to participate in these first evenings and to help shape future programming with suggestions.
All events will be held at 7 p.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Community Resource Centre, Trail Place (next to the Shell Station) in Sechelt.
For the winter season we are offering: Jan. 31 - Signs out of Time screening. The life and work of Marija Gimbutas, the archaeologist who defined the Goddess worshipping societies of Old Europe. Also, we will have copies of Anne Morrow Lindbergh's book Gifts from the Sea available for loan for a book club discussion the following month.
Feb. 28 - Gifts from the Sea, a discussion of the book and presentation on author Anne Morrow Lindbergh. March 28 - S.C. Canadian Grandmothers, a film presentation from the Stephen Lewis Foundation and a look at the lives and challenges of women around the world.
Apr. 25 - The Urban Elephant, a documentary about elephants in captivity and one woman's commitment to these noble animals.
