RCMP track down one stolen vehicle

Sunshine Coast RCMP have tracked down one of the vehicles reported stolen last week in a string of auto thefts over a five-day period. On Aug. 6, RCMP received a report of an abandoned truck in a back road located off Reed Road in Gibsons.

On Aug. 6, RCMP received a report of an abandoned truck in a back road located off Reed Road in Gibsons.

Media spokesperson Cpl. Steve Chubey said RCMP discovered the vehicle was one that was reported stolen from Skookum Chrysler, a red 2007 F-350 pickup, on Aug. 1.

Chubey said the vehicle was towed from the scene and was seized for processing by the RCMP's forensic identification section.

A red 1995 Jeep Cherokee, reported stolen on Aug. 1 at approximately 1:50 a.m. near the 5600 block of Wharf Road in Sechelt and a red, 1999 Volkswagen Jetta, that was reported stolen on Aug. 1 around 11:20 a.m. from the Langdale ferry terminal parking lot, have both yet to be located.

RCMP is asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of any of these vehicles or the identity of who may be responsible for the thefts to call 9-1-1 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
