Sunshine Coast RCMP have launched a possible impaired driving investigation following a motorcycle accident in Wilson Creek on Saturday evening.
According to RCMP, they, along with the Sechelt fire department and BC Ambulance paramedics, were dispatched to the single-vehicle accident around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday on Highway 101 near Field Road.
"A witness was travelling northbound on Highway 101, but stopped after seeing a man pinned under his motorcycle," said Cpl. Steve Chubey in a news release. "The witness pulled the bike off the driver and saw that the driver had suffered an injury to his foot. Although there were several people at the scene, nobody actually witnessed the accident."
Chubey said RCMP officers made a demand for a breath sample from the driver after noting signs of impairment, however the driver refused to provide a sample.
"As a result, police issued the driver with a 215 suspension, an administrative driving prohibition, and will be seeking charges of impaired driving (care and control) and refusal of breath demand," added Chubey.
He said the driver, a 65-year-old Sechelt man, was taken to St. Mary's Hospital for treatment to his foot.
