RCMP seek man from A&W parking lot

Sunshine Coast RCMP are looking for a person of interest after a suspicious incident in the A&W parking lot in Gibsons Friday, Sept. 18. RCMP say an unknown man was sitting in his vehicle and offered a bite of his hamburger to a five-year-old boy.

RCMP say an unknown man was sitting in his vehicle and offered a bite of his hamburger to a five-year-old boy. When the boy's grandfather noticed the incident, the man drove away.

RCMP describe the man as: a 5'9" caucasian, approximately 40 years old with a medium build, blond hair and scruffy facial hair. He was last seen in an older model shiny blue sedan.

Pedestrian struck

A young girl was hospitalized Thursday afternoon, Sept. 17 after being struck by a car on Gibsons Way.

Sunshine Coast RCMP say a 16-year-old girl was hit around 11:30 a.m. as she was trying to cross Gibsons Way at Shaw Road. A driver turning left from the Sunnycrest Mall parking lot failed to stop for the young woman, knocking her to the pavement.

She was treated for non-life threatening injuries at St. Mary's Hospital. The driver has been charged with failure to yield to a pedestrian.
