RCMP seek assault suspect

Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for public information to help identify a person responsible for an assault on a Sechelt female on March 28. According to police, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Sunshine Coast RCMP are asking for public information to help identify a person responsible for an assault on a Sechelt female on March 28.

According to police, at approximately 3:30 p.m., the female victim was walking on the trail beneath the power lines near the Sechelt Food Bank, when an unknown male approached her from behind.

"The male assaulted the victim in an attempt to steal her backpack," said Cpl. Don Newman. "The female managed to fight off the suspect and flee towards the area of Trail Avenue."

The male was described as in his 30s, six feet tall, Caucasian or Native, wearing sandals, black sweatpants, black hoodie and a baseball cap. The hoodie had a red coloured symbol on the front.
