Sunshine Coast RCMP are advising the community of a common scam that has recently re-surfaced on the Coast.
The scam involves a recipient who has been advised that they been selected to be a customer service evaluator for a well-known business. The letter includes a large cheque made out to the recipient who is asked to return a portion of that amount by wire transfer and to keep the rest as payment. RCMP is asking anyone who receives such a letter to check out www.phonebusters.com to learn more about scams and how to protect yourself from them.
