Sunshine Coast RCMP are investigating a pair of robberies in Sechelt that investigators believe could be connected.
On Sunday night July 17 shortly after 8 p.m., a robbery by force occurred at Gilligan's Liquor Store after a male suspect grabbed a large bottle of alcohol and attempted to leave the premises without paying.
"A staff member who tried to detain the suspect was pushed over and the suspect fled. The suspect, described as a medium built tanned male in his mid-30's, was wearing a baseball cap and a green hooded sweatshirt," said Cpl. Steve Chubey.
On the same evening, shortly before 10 p.m., another robbery by force occurred at the Lighthouse Beer and Wine store after a male suspect fled the premises with unpaid for merchandise hidden in his clothing.
"A staff member attempted to block the thief's exit and a brief struggle ensued until the suspect was able to push the staff member aside and flee," said Chubey. "The male suspect is described as being 25 to 35 years old, wearing a white hat, golf shirt, dark khakis and Adidas sandals."
RCMP believe that the robberies are related and are asking anyone with information on either of these robberies to contact RCMP at 604-885-2266 or CrimeStoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
