Sechelt council approved a noise bylaw variance, which will allow NB Contracting LTD. to complete the road markings of Inlet Avenue sooner.

The variance was proposed at Sechelt council’s June 5 regular meeting

Serge Fjetland, Engineering Technologist, explained the work along Inlet Avenue is wrapping up and they have the scheduled road marking and line painting, which is usually completed in the evenings outside of when the noise bylaw applies.

The noise bylaw prevents construction that creates noise from taking place after 9 p.m. in the area.

He explained the work can be completed in a single weeknight, which can be determined based on weather and contractor availability. The work is not expected to make much noise with little to no impact on nearby residents and businesses.

The amendment will allow the work to take place from 5 p.m. - 2 a.m. once a date is set.

Council unanimously approved the noise bylaw variance without discussion.
