SEEKING INFORMATION: Powell River RCMP responded to a stabbing incident in Westview on April 1, where a man was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Powell River RCMP are investigating after a man was allegedly stabbed while trying to stop a theft in progress on Lytton Street near Brunswick Avenue.

According to a media release from sergeant Sandi Swanson, on April 1, at around 12:30 am, Powell River RCMP responded to a 911 call for a report of a stabbing.

“It was initially reported that a man had observed another man walking and acting suspiciously on Lytton Street,” stated Swanson. “The suspect was then observed departing a residence's carport with items believed to be stolen. The man who decided to confront the suspect, however, was attacked and allegedly stabbed in the process. The suspect then fled the area.”

The suspect is described as: Caucasian male, 25 to 30 years old, five feet, 10 inches tall, with medium length light-coloured hair, wearing a blue jacket, dark-coloured pants and a white bandana pulled up to his chin.

Swanson stated that the victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
