Police arrest prolific offenders

Sunshine Coast RCMP may have cracked a string of break and enters and property thefts after the arrest of what police are calling two "prolific offenders" from the Lower Mainland.

Sunshine Coast RCMP may have cracked a string of break and enters and property thefts after the arrest of what police are calling two "prolific offenders" from the Lower Mainland.

On Saturday afternoon, July 3, police were called to a possible theft in progress in Roberts Creek.

Const. Candice Ellerbrok said two males were seen removing parts from a bus that was parked on the forestry road off the B&K logging road.

Ellerbrok said the males were later located by police and were found to be in possession of stolen property and break-in instruments. The two males were arrested for break and enter, possession of stolen property and possession of break-in instruments.

"These two males are prolific property crime offenders from the Lower Mainland. One of the males has an extensive criminal record," said Ellerbrok in a news release.

Ellerbrok said RCMP are currently investigating several other break and enters that have occurred across the Coast to see if there are any links to this investigation.

"The RCMP are requesting anyone who is a victim of a break and enter, theft or attempted theft/break and enter from a business or residence that has gone unreported to call the Sunshine Coast RCMP to report these incidents and any stolen property," she said. "Also the Sunshine Coast RCMP are requesting anyone who locates any property of value to report this to the police as it is believed that the two males were storing larger stolen items along local logging roads. Police are unable to determine how long these two males have been on the Coast."

Anyone with information regarding this or other incidents is asked to contact RCMP Const. Tracy Dubnyk at 604-885-2266, or Crime Stoppers 1-800-222-8477.
