Photos: Earth Day celebrations return in Roberts Creek

After a two-year hiatus, Roberts Creek's famous Earth Day Festival returned.

It was a full afternoon of education and merriment at the Roberts Creek mandala on April 24 as vendors, local environmentally-minded societies, and musicians converged to celebrate Earth Day.

The event started with Pedal for the Plant from the Lower Road-Highway 101 intersection to the festival. And a full slate of musicians took to the stage for the annual Creek celebration including Monty Montego, WildFlowers, Brothers and Farms, Greatfully Dead Seagulls, Bellows and Strings, SPaDE and The Shapes We're In.

Earth Day festivals have been held at the Roberts Creek pier since 1996 (before that they were at Cliff Gilker Park and before that at Trail Bay and Sunnycrest Malls) but were cancelled in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. Last year, instead of the usual celebrations, Roberts Creek Community Association asked people to send in photos of "people enjoying vistas."
