At some point duringthe week before Sea Cavalcade, three of the Town's hand painted banners went missing from lower Gibsons.

"These bannerswere painted by local people who volunteered their talent and their time, to help beautify our town with their colourful art work," said volunteer banner co-ordinator Connie Johnston.

Johnston said when the banners come down in the late fall, banner artists will have first choice in purchasing their banners at cost before the remaining banners will be auctioned off. Mackenzie Morgan, who designed the missing mermaid banner, expressed huge disappointment when she was notified ofthe banner loss. She hadhoped to purchase thisbanneras a legacy for her children.

"We allmake mistakes in life, but we wouldlike to give the opportunity for this to be corrected, with no questions asked," Johnston said of the missing banners.

Anyone with information regarding these banners are asked to contact Johnston at 604-886-4722, or just drop the banners off at municipal hall in Gibsons.
