Queen of Cowichan departs Langdale on April 20.

Passengers planning to catch the 5:30 p.m. sailing from Horseshoe Bay to Langdale are out of luck.

On Sept. 7, BC Ferries announced in a service update that sailings for the Queen of Cowichan were cancelled due to an issue with one of the main engines. Five sailings were affected: four between Vancouver and Nanaimo, and one serving the Sunshine Coast.

Refunds were issued to customers who had bookings for the first three cancelled sailings and travelled on standby basis. The final two cancellations, including the 5:30 p.m. voyage to Langdale, would be accommodated the next available sailing.

“We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations. We are working to resolve the issue and we will keep you informed as soon as more information becomes available,” BC Ferries’ service update read.

Passengers were reminded they can find the most up to date information on Twitter.
