'No significant growth' from Chapman Lake fire

BCWS confirms that reservoir water will not be used on the fire

Action has been taken against the wildfire V53223 near Chapman Lake discovered Sept. 10, according to the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS).

As of 11:30 a.m. Sept. 13, the fire is 0.1 hectares in size and has shown no significant growth.

Tuesday, one fire crew and one helicopter responded to the wildfire and were able to provide updates, including clarifying that the fire is 1.5 km west of the lake.

A BCWS spokesperson reaffirmed that no water will be removed from the reservoir to combat the Chapman Lake fire. They added that no foam or retardants are being used on this fire either. 

V53223 is currently listed as wildfire rank 1 – smouldering ground fire. 

No significant changes at Clowhom Lake

Wildfire V53027 near Clowhom Lake has shown no significant changes and is still 80 hectares in size.

One cabin in the region is receiving structure protection as a precaution, but there is no immediate threat to the cabin or any other values, says the BCWS wildfire map. 

BCWS clarified that V53027 is being carefully monitored and that three firefighters and one helicopter are currently assigned to the fire.
